Wedding Dress Trends for 2027 & 2028: Bridal Inspiration from The National Wedding Show Catwalk

If you’re planning a 2027 or 2028 wedding and wedding dress shopping is next on your list, there’s plenty of inspiration coming your way!

I spent the weekend photographing the bridal catwalk at The National Wedding Show in Birmingham, and this year’s shows were full of gorgeous ideas. From beautifully simple silhouettes and timeless lace to statement sleeves, dramatic skirts and incredible veils, there was a little bit of everything.

As the official photographer for The National Wedding Show, I had one of the best seats in the house, so I’ve pulled together some of my favourite looks from the catwalk to give you a little inspiration before you start wedding dress shopping.

The Classic

Some bridal looks never go out of style. Think beautifully structured silhouettes, elegant necklines, timeless fabrics and just the right amount of detail. These dresses feel just as beautiful now as they will when you look back at your wedding photographs in twenty years.

For the Statement Makers

If subtle isn’t quite your thing, there was plenty of drama on the catwalk too. Full skirts, incredible trains, and looks that were absolutely made for that walk down the aisle.

The Florals

Florals are having a real moment in bridalwear for 2027 and 2028. From painted-on designs and delicate embroidery to beautiful 3D appliqués, floral wedding dresses are romantic and feminine, and a gorgeous way to add detail and personality to your wedding.

The Three Quarter Lengths & Minis

Shorter hemlines are also having a moment, from elegant three-quarter lengths to playful minis. They’re perfect for a modern bridal look, a second outfit, or for your registry office ceremony before heading abroad for a destination wedding.

Finding Your Wedding Dress

When it comes to wedding dress shopping, just remember, you don’t have to know exactly what you’re looking for before you start trying dresses on. Often, the style you fall in love with is nothing like the one you saved on Pinterest or Instagram!

Try different shapes. Try the dress you don’t think is “you”. Move around in it. Sit down in it. See how you feel in it.

Because ultimately, the right wedding dress isn’t just the one that photographs beautifully. It’s the one that makes you feel absolutely amazing when you put it on!

If you’re looking for photography that captures everything from the beautiful details to the people, reactions, and moments around you, take a look at my wedding photography and film services here.

I photograph weddings throughout the UK and overseas, combining natural documentary photography with beautiful editorial portraits, so you’ll have gorgeous photographs without your wedding feeling like one long photoshoot.
