As the official photographer for the National Wedding Show (the UK’s largest wedding fair), I’m lucky enough to witness (and capture) the new bridal styles showcased on the Catwalk every year – and this year (2024) didn’t disappoint. The show was packed with so much variation, from fitted silhouettes to voluminous gowns, many offering the added versatility of detachable sleeves, capes, overskirts, and more! Proving that there’s quite literally something on offer for every modern bride-to-be.

The very latest wedding trends seen on the bridal runway this year included show-stopping two-piece ensembles, stylish pantsuits, and an abundance of sexy mini-dresses sure to turn heads.

Whether you’re drawn to simple but chic designs, bold statement looks, or romantic lace bridal gowns, this blog is a great way to get your fix on the most current bridal inspiration, and immerse yourself in the 2025 world of bridal fashion.

Two-piece wedding dresses

An exciting feature of the catwalk shows this year was the inclusion of several two-piece wedding dresses – offering a fresh take on the traditional bridal look.

Short wedding dresses are becoming very popular among contemporary brides, offering a fresh and modern twist to traditional bridal wear. Loved for their versatility, these chic mini dresses are perfect for a range of wedding-related occasions, from an intimate elopement or town hall ceremony to a lively hen party or bachelorette. They also make a stylish statement for rehearsal dinners and evening receptions.

Inspired by trendy brides like Vicky Pattison, who wore a stunning short wedding dress for her legal UK wedding ceremony, these mini dresses are a fun and fashionable choice for today’s bride.

Wedding Pant Suits (an alternative to the wedding dress!)

If a wedding dress is not for you, but you still want something very bridal you may want to consider a wedding pant suit instead!
The were some stunning examples of these on the National Wedding Show catwalk this year, offering an empowering choice for brides wanting to break with tradition and make a bold statement on their special day.

Styles on show featured flowy wide trousers, a satin all in one, and a two-piece with pearl accents.
The wedding trouser suit offers great versatility and can be paired with a fitted jacket or blazer for the formal ceremony and wedding photos.

The pant suit is a great choice for the contemporary bride wanting to showcase their individuality, and work well for weddings of all kinds, including big lavish celebrations, intimate elopements, destination weddings, and same-sex weddings.

Colourful Wedding Dresses

If you want to break free from the traditional white gown, you may want to consider a coloured wedding dress! There are many beautiful examples of these within the world of wedding fashion, with blush, blue, and black wedding dresses proving very popular. The colours featured in this year’s catwalk shows included black wedding gowns, blush, and multicoloured floral dresses.

It’s also worth considering the season of your wedding when choosing a non-traditional wedding gown. Colourful floral dresses look great in Spring, and wedding dress colours like black and red lend themselves particularly well to winter weddings.
